A Weekend of Work...but, Rewarding!

Did you enjoy this 3-day weekend?? If only all of them could be! We had beeeautiful weather...the stuff that makes you want to bottle it all year long!

We spent a lot of our Memorial Day weekend outside watching Carlos build the sandbox, he had cleared an area for back in October! After 17 hours of hard work, 64 fifty-pound bags of playsand and LOT of "little" help from Carlos' shadow, Landon...it's done!! Landon loves it, Carlos is proud of it and Mommy is glad to have a bit of a babysitter for the times when she needs to make dinner or take a phone call.

We did have to come up with a few distractions, while Landon was waiting for the box to be built...so enter, Shaving Cream!! An ol' favorite around this house!

On another note, funny story. Landon's sitting at the table eating a waffle. He says I need "budder". Butter? ...."No, Mommy. Bubber!!" I say again, 'Butter'? And exasperated sigh follows from Landon and he musters up an R...and says, "A BRR-OTHER". Ugh. hmmm...about that one. I replied. "I don't have one of those. But I have some syrup. Want some maple syrup for your waffle?"

Finally, I heard a new song this weekend. Loved the lyrics. It said, "Life is not about how many breaths you take....but how many moments take your breath away". Isn't that the truth? For me...it's the little stuff that leaves me breathless. Like watching my husband work tirelessly to build something with his own hands for his son. And watching my son spend all weekend, just trying to be like his Daddy. I am blessed this Memorial Day.

Rainy + Refreshed = Re-arranging

You know that old saying, "just because everyone else is jumping off a cliff are you going to"? Well, I'm jumping off the cliff. Blogging seems to be a big deal these days and it's frankly like another hobby. So, since I have so much idle time (ha!) I figure why not?

Now back to the Rainy Day Re-Arranging ... It's been raining for the last two days and I have been LOVING it, on many levels. It's a wonderful break from the 108 degree record temperature just a few days ago. But, cloudy mornings are also trickery for toddlers! This morning, Landon slept in until 7:45!! Hallelujah! If only we lived in Seattle, I might actually still look 29!

After a night of great zzzzzz's I was motivated to take on a project of titanic proportions! I took every single toy in this house and dumped on the floor in one room. Taking my cues from the HGTV organizing pro's I figured this would be the best way to sort, purge and organize.

Almost instantly, I realized this was a ridiculous idea for a mere mortal. Still, after five hours.. I made magic out of the plastic mess and everything, now has a place! Heck! I even have a little extra room for more toys!

~sigh~ I'm just glad I live in the desert. I couldn't handle another night of good sleep. Waking refreshed ...is exhausting!
