Here Comes the Bride...

...all dressed in white.... okay. I don't know the rest.

We went up to Payson for Shanon & Rick's wedding. It was beautiful! Out on a green lawn looking directly to the mountains. And intimate and lavish evening with a string quartet, fabulous food including a TO DIE FOR mashed potato bar! Can you hear the angels singing, "hallelujah! hallelujah!!" I'd never heard of such a thing, but we got to select from an assortment of food and have it sauteed...then the servers dug a little hole in our mashed potatoes and dropped our sauteed selection in with the gravy! Frankly, I should have passed on the pork loin and the prime rib and gone for a plate of potatoes!!

The three of us became friends when we were working at Fox-10.

The little box Shannon and I spent all night making a few months back looked beautiful with all of the fall decorations...including pumpkins, leaves and beautiful ribbons! I shared a picture of it a few posts back, but I was excited to see how pretty it looked on the table with the gifts!

All of our menus were written in hand-calligraphy and detailed all of the courses. Such a pretty touch! We sat at tables of four and I was SO HAPPY we were seated with Kate and her hubs Sean. They're expecting their first baby in February! :)

Another wonderful touch was the on-site babysitter the bride provided for us!! We were able to enjoy the reception, and dancing and walk a few short steps away to go check on Landon. The bride's sister has a son Landon's age so he was able to play all night and watch movies and generally have a great time, while we did too!!

The bride's photographer took this picture of Carlos and I dancing and emailed it to me Monday at work. I thought that was so nice and we love the picture!

As the night was drawing to a close, the groom grabbed the mic and started singing Sweet Home Alabama to his bride...and well, everyone else too. It was a sweet- Beetles meets Blushing Bride moment as you can see below!

Girls Just Want To Have Fun!

Kate came back and all the girls got together! (She's the blond in front of me). Shannon the brunette in the middle is getting married in 3 days, so Kate traveled from Boise, Idaho to be in the wedding. The four of us used to work together at Fox 10...along with Mindee, the beautiful brunette a few pictures below seen with Katie.

We all had such a great time when we worked together and I miss seeing everyone. Mindee on the left works for the Boys & Girls club, the bride/Shannon now works for a car sales insurance company, and Krista on the right works in commercial real estate/land acquisitions and of course now I'm at a different station.

Good friends are hard to find...so I consider it truly a blessing when we carve time to come back together and pick up where we left off!

Balloons, Dinos and Princesses...Oh MY!

Landon went to a birthday party last weekend for Princesses and Princes and while he was tickled ...uh, yellow with his balloon when we got home, he cried for the first 30 minutes of the party. It's sort of his thing. Don't know why he does it. It's been his trademark since he was a year old. So, we just smile and hope this phase will end before he's in high school.

Post Birthday Cake: Behold! A Sugar High!

I have a sort of tradition of making a hand-crafted gift for Makena, the birthday princess pictures above. So, of course this year was no exception. The crown below started as a white canvas, is distressed with some inks and a graphic printed on a clear address label, covered with melted wax to give an aged look and adorned with a little pink bling. I actually learned how to make this on Sonoran Living. Very fun project!! And easy to change for holidays, different graphics and utterly customizable!

Back to Landon, his current fascination wavers between the toy you see below. Why is it always the cheap Happy Meal Toys that keep their attention so well? Forget the money we spend on the educational, more expensive variety!?!

Pardon me, I digress. ....back to fascination wavering between this toy and dinosaurs.

It started a few weeks when we went to a show called Walking with Dinosaurs. A Paleontologist- narrated trip to the time of dinosaurs and how they lived and what they looked like. Huge life like machines made to move like they would have when they walked the earth.

Landon keeps asking to go back and see the dinosaurs and "that guy who says they stink". Translation: Dinosaurs are extinct.

I'm not going to lie. It's too cute to correct, so for now I'm sure he thinks they reek. It's just like Pumpa-munkins. Who wants to rush a lifetime of pumpkins, when you can enjoy the sweet sound of the pumpa-munkins?

Now to a Houston update. Mom and dad FINALLY got power back at their home yesterday. A mere 11 days after they lost it in Hurricane Ike. Dad says it wasn't as much as an inconvenience as it could have been, because their next door neighbor let them feed a line from their generator. This allowed them to have a fridge, a light and a TV.

I'm baaaack! :)

I know, I know...it's been a long time since my last post! I had a couple of you ask why I hadn't updated the blog. In a nutshell, we had a crazy week and a half with the guys being sick.

Carlos came down with a TERRIBLE stomach flu that had him literally in bed from the Friday before Labor Day to Tuesday. He was out of bed last Wednesday, but still not strong enough to go back to work. But, that's when Landon got sick and didn't get better for 24 hours. I thought I escaped it, but then this weekend, on Friday I got the stomach bug too. Because of Carlos' "near death experience"...we were not able to visit his parents in El Paso.

Now we're all healthy and trying to stay that way.

This weekend I hosted a baby shower for Natalee Hahn, (friend from 9th Grade)who's scheduled to have her baby boy, Brody Michael on 10-09-08. I'd post pictures but, I used her camera and she hasn't sent me any yet.

Here are a few pictures of things I made for the shower. The first is one of the place cards I made, which when they took them home will serve as a picture holder. The second is a book that I made to keep all of her cards she receives for the baby in his first year. We punched holes in the cards at the shower and she's already got a cute place to store them! I'll post a slide show of more decorations when she emails me pictures this week.

This opens up like a book...there is another board on the back to sandwich the cards.
Today after church, I tackled a project that I couldn't get to last weekend with Carlos feeling sick. I put up some vinyl decorations in the Master bedroom and Landon's room. Below you'll see the before and after behind our bed.


Landon was glad when we finished, so he could get back to his jumps from the headboard. When he leaps he yells 'To Infinity And Beyond"! (from Toy Story)

We put up two adhesive vinyls in Landon's room. They don't damage the paint and pull right off when you're ready to change them. I can't wait to start ordering some holiday vinyls to decorate and make fun stuff to put up around the house!! My next project is on a 12x12 tile!! :)
