Double Take!!

When I came home from work today I walked in to find a pictures of Carlos when he was 5 years old.

Mrs. Monge gave it to us when Landon was an infant and we tucked it into a closet. Carlos found it, asked Landon who it was and of course he yelled….”Landon!”

Who wouldn’t think that’s Landon!

Carlos’ mom says she remembers the day it was taken. Carlos was home sick from school and a photographer came to the door. She didn’t have a picture of Carlos so she had it taken.

We both agree the resemblance is beyond uncanny…it’s kinda' creepy!...in a good way! Ha!

By the way, Carlos is on the left. Landon is on the right.

Grammy Visits

Carlos went to El Paso this weekend to drop off a car for his parents....so it was the perfect time for a little Mom and Daughter time!

Landon is madly in love with Grammy and you can tell by some of these pictures at one of my favorite lunch spots, the Queen Creek Olive Mill.

We sat outside near the olive trees, enjoyed fabulous food and a bottle of wine while watching Landon.

Actually, Landon's been going through a bit of a "Michael Jackson phase". We found a pair of gloves in his closet and somewhere along the line he lost one. But that hasn't kept him from wearing only one!

Valentine's Day

Valentine’s Dates come in all shapes and sizes, you know.

Not just for those lucky in love, but for best friends too!

Landon and I met his best friend, Wade and his Mom, Traci for a Valentine’s Breakfast date! Carlos was working and we decided to make the most of the day of love.

First, a breakfast date at the Chandler Airport where the boys talked just as much and the moms! Two sets of jabber boxes.
We love this place because you can get up close to the planes, watch them land and take off and just enjoy the great weather!

After the airport we were off to the park for a play date and of course some pictures.
I love this picture of Landon and Mommy.

It’s among my favorite and Lord knows we have A LOT of them!

Off to Pre-School!!

After much consideration, we decided to put Landon into a “true” Pre-School.

For the last 2 years he’s been at an in-home school with 4 other children. But, many of his classmates were moving onto other schools and the new ones coming in were younger. So, it was the prompting we needed to get him into the next little milestone.

After touring several different schools we fell in LOVE with a Christian Pre-School further away from our home, but closer to my station. It happens to be on the same campus I went to church at when she was in High School! And his chapel is in the same room where my youth group was held.
Landon could’t be more excited to go to “big-boy school” and we love the curriculum which includes Christian instruction, a separate music and art class, and of course all the other basics of Pre-school!

His first day of school went off without a hitch! No tears…just ‘bye Mommy’ and off to play!!

Now, when Carlos went to take him a few days later, it was “waterworks”!! That’s because Carlos closes the gym on Wednesdays, to stay home with Landon all day and Landon wanted to stay and play with Daddy.

We decided to let him stay out of school on Wednesdays until Pre-K in the fall. So, for now he’s there all week, with the exception of Wednesday. And the Daddy day is the highlight for both of them!!

Super Bowl Sunday

It's a day we've been looking forward to for weeks! Super Bowl XLIII with Cardinals!!!

Who would have imagined???

During half time...we skipped the show and went outside to enjoy the sunset and a ride in the front yard of our friend's house, The Cochran's.

John flew his big 'ol planes while we watched as Carlos went running through the desert to catch them before they crash landed!!!

Of course we didn't get the outcome that we wanted...but, for a few brief minutes we cheered and hugged and screamed like we would have if the Cards had won.

Baking Buddies

Landon LOOOVES Funfetti Brownies like nothing else!
Aunt Samanta is a Funfetti Cake freak, so he must take after her.
We had a great time in the kitchen and he licked more of the bowl than he ate of the brownies.

NFC Title Game

Confetti for EVERYONE!!

That's the theme of the day after the NFC Title Game.

We've totally jumped on the wagon...the Cardinal's band wagon. The entire city is pumped and we LOVE Kurt Warner!

We went to our friend's The Cochran's ...and watched every last second of the game. We even re-played the end to see the celebration again!!

Gooooooooo CARDINALS!!!

Winter Weather...yeah, RIGHT!

It's amazing to think that people in other parts of the country are buried in snow and ice and we are relishing in 80 degree weather!!
Landon had yet another play date today.
The boys went outside and Traci and I were inside talking, when I heard belly laughs from Landon outside.

Not your ordinary laugh...but the mischievous kind that only my son can display!!

We walked out to find Landon drenched in water and Wade watching in awe and dry as a bone!

Eventually, after asking permission...(ha!) Wade got in on the action and we watched and let the boys soak themselves silly!

Two Little Monkeys...Jumping On The Bed...

Landon had a play date with Maycie, another friend he's know since he was around 9 months old! They met at a music class for babies.

It's too bad they didn't' have much fun.

$5 ...A FORTUNE for a 3 year old

Landon just wanted to say THANK YOU GRAMMY for the money for his piggy bank.

He was so proud to get it ...so much so he decided to tuck it in his pajama pants! ha!

Maybe he'll use the money to buy a wallet!! ;)

A Walk On The Wild Side

I had a rare opportunity to go backstage at the Broadway version of The Lion King for Sonoran Living.

I did two stories, one about the hundreds of puppets they use in the performance (click here to view) and the other with the make-up artist who does the face for Rafiki the Monkey.
The woman in the picture has done the make-up for all the characters in the New York Broadway Lion King. It took her about 30 minutes from start to finish.
Click here to the segment on the make-up application.
After the shoot was over...YES!! I drove back to work like this. HA!! If you could have only seen the looks on other driver's faces....

Perfect Weather For The Park

Landon and I wanted to get out of the house and enjoy the beautiful weather so we swooped in to Wade's house to pick him up and headed to the park and ice cream afterwards!

The boys have been playing together since they were 8 months old....so it's a wonderful bond the boys have!

Here are a few pics of the day!
